
Charles W. Lotzar
With more than 20 years of legal experience, Mr. Lotzar has distinguished himself among clients, community partners and peers alike. After a successful history as a senior partner at Kutak Rock LLP, Mr. Lotzar opened his own firm - Lotzar Law Firm, P.C. - in August 2005, allowing him to pursue other entrepreneurial and community-related interests.
He has held the highest rating possible with Martindale Hubbell, a worldwide database of legal practitioners since 1991. His practice areas include business planning, business transactions, real estate development, real estate finance, tax-exempt bonds and low-income housing tax credits.
His expertise rests on his ability to develop innovative and effective financing methods, particularly in the areas of single and multi-family housing, and commercial and healthcare real estate. He is regarded as a national expert in many areas, including commercial and real estate transactions, collateralized mortgage-backed securities, low-income housing, tax-credit financings, and various forms of tax-exempt and taxable bond financings.
Mr. Lotzar has extensive experience dealing with public contacts and issues related to public officials, and has been involved in bond financings having an aggregate value in excess of $5 billion. Mr. Lotzar's broad experience has earned him various accolades, including The Phoenix Business Journal's "Best of the Bar," "Top Three - Reader's Choice" and "Peer Recognition - Attorneys' Picks," in 2005. He also was recognized for constructing one of Institutional Investor Magazine's "Deals of the Year" in 1991.

Two of Mr. Lotzar's greatest passions are his family and his local community. His contributions include:
- McCormick Ranch Little League - Member of the Board of Directors, 2000 - 2006. Role as either Manager or Coach, 1997 - 2006.
- Arcadia Scottsdale United Soccer Association - Coach, 2001 - 2006.
- City of Scottsdale - Participant in obtaining more than $300,000 in grant funding for, along with the planning and development of, Little League baseball, soccer and lacrosse fields at Cochise Elementary School.
- Scottsdale Miss Softball - Coach, 2005 - present.
Mr. Lotzar earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business from Michigan State University in 1982 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1985. He and his wife, Mary Sue - a fellow Lotzar Law Firm, P.C., attorney - reside in Scottsdale with their three children, Charlie, Patrick and Kelly.
